An economist's confession

It is not always that economists admit to the shortcomings of the dismal science, unless, of course, it is an informal chat. An economist based in Delhi, when asked during an informal interaction why economists fail to notice until a crisis blows up in their faces, said, "Economists are like those doctors who only perform a post-mortem once the patient is dead."
