This refers to "Artificial intelligence & human intervention" (September 8). It is true that the time has not yet come to have an AI system to operate on its own. The Tay AI bot by Microsoft created havoc on Twitter soon after its release. The chatbox soon turned into a machine venting a series of inflammatory tweets. It had to be taken offline immediately. Such incidents are a warning of the perils that uncontrolled AI can cause. The very principle of learning from people makes it susceptible to damage, if it falls into the wrong hands. As the author writes, human intervention and moderation are the key to the success of AI, unless we could derive something close to Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics.
