This refers to the edit “Seven years in a row” (September 28). Seven years is good enough to study and set right the norms for sowing and other agricultural activities. For a country that depends on rain for almost all the farm work ranging from sowing to reaping, monsoon forecasts are important. Our meteorological department needs to be modernised to meet the farm sector’s needs. Meanwhile, the government should help farmers by supplying water from dams and other sources.
