Aam Aadmi Party senior leader Anjali Damania, who quit the party for a few hours on Thursday, said that she was let down by the party due to the "negativity that was building up."

"I was let down because of the negativity that was building up," Damania told Business Standard.

Damania, who is the party's Maharashtra unit convener, had quit the party post, displeased over the behaviour of certain local leaders in the party after its drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

"I can fight the most corrupt, but, I can't have negativity in the party, otherwise the cause is lost...left far behind," said Damania.

Taking a dig at a few party leaders without naming them, Damania said that the party has decided to re-structure the way it works at the state level.

"We have taken a vow that we will not allow any self-centered people damage our value system," the leader said.

She explained that there there were a few important decisions taken on Thursday evening. First, the state committee has been dissolved. "Henceforth, the state executive management will be open to all volunteers thereby making it transparent. We will also restart our weekly Saturday meetings with the volunteers," she added.

After Damania quit, party leaders including senior leader Mayank Gandhi persuaded her to re-join the party posts on Thursday evening. After this, Damania held a volunteer meet where the party workers promised to "re-focus and dedicate themselves back to the party."

Gandhi had said that Damania was upset over the petty talks that were accumulating among the party unit workers post the Lok Sabha results.

"There were petty issues such as rift among the volunteers which were accumulating. People were spending more time on this than doing the groundwork," Gandhi had told Business Standard.
