A one-month old infant, who was scalded with hot iron a week ago, died in Odisha's Nabarangpur district today, police said.
Gomati, wife of Dhanar Goud of B Maliguda village gave birth to a baby boy one month ago.
As the child's stomach swelled, the tribal parents took him to a Dishari (village quack) who put hot iron ron on the baby's stomach.

After the branding incident, the baby's condition became critical as the local ASHA worker Savita Mali brought the infant to District Headquarters Hospital.
However, attending doctor found that the baby was drought dead, hospital sources said.
"The month-old baby was branded with hot iron nails almost eight days ago. The wounds had caused infection due to which he died. The baby had already died before coming to hospital. We confirmed it's death," Dr PreetiNayak, CMO Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital said.
