11 killed in rain-related incidents in UP

At least 11 people, including three minors, were killed in rain-related incidents in different parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Sonu Pathak (24), Jai Ram (46) and Neeraj (18) were killed this morning after being hit by lightning in Pilibhit district, police said.

Five labourers were buried alive on the outskirts of Allahabad when the wall of a place of worship, beside which they were sleeping, collapsed on them last night following heavy rains, they said.

In Saharanpur, three siblings, Rumana (17), Farhan (14) and Rehman (11), were killed when their house collapsed due to heavy rains in Mankamau area.

According to the MeT department, major amount of rainfall was recorded in Kheri 23 cm, Baharaich 20 cm, Mau, Gonda 13 cm each, Bansi, Chillaghat, Pratapgarh, Phoolpur 11 cm each, Ayodhya, Kakrahi, Basti, Moradabad and Bareilly 7 cm each.
 

Rain and thundershowers are likely at most places in the state tomorrow, with heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places.
