A 11-member dacoit gang, including the kingpin Prem Sahni, was arrested from Fatuha in Patna district today.

The gang was reportedly active in Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal.

Police officials seized nine pistols and revolvers, 40 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, 10 bombs, two kg of 'charas', an SUV, two motorcycles and equipment which could cut into heavy reinforced steel as well as locks from the arrested persons.

"Sahni led an inter-state gang of dacoits. He is an accused in several cases in Bihar including Rs 50 lakh loot from a cash van of Punjab National Bank in Patna. He was arrested in an incident of loot at Sambhalpur in Odisha in 2013. He gave his wrong name and absconded after getting bail from the court there," said Patna SSP Manu Maharaj.

"The criminals have confessed that they were planning to rob Allahabad Bank's Machhriawa branch in Fatuha. They would have proceeded with the plan had our team not busted them," added Maharaj.

Police sources said Sahni is among the suspects in the Rs 1 crore loot from the cash van of Union Bank recently. He has got a palatial house in Shyam Nagar area of Kolkata.
