Five persons were arrested by forest officials today for allegedly killing a protected species of a wild animal near here in Madhya Pradesh.
Weapons and two four-wheelers were also seized from their possession near village Lalatori, forest officials said.
After killing the animal, suspected to be a deer, the hunters removed its skin, collected the meat in two tumblers last night in the forest area and later slept there.

Acting on a tip-off, forest officials reached the spot early this morning and caught them along with the skin and the animal meat.
Three guns, a search light, a blood-stained knife, an axe, a car and a jeep were recovered from the spot, the officials said.
Those arrested were identified as Shaad Khan, Aamir Khan, Rameez Khan, Shekhu Khan and Lal Khan. They have been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act.
