12 arrested in stone pelting case

Twelve people were arrested in connection with the incident of stone pelting, which left over half a dozen persons injured here, police said today.

Enraged protesters pelted stones at vehicles and a bus carrying a marriage party on Sharda Road yesterday, following provocative photographs uploaded on social networking site 'Facebook' by unknown miscreants.

Passengers, including the bus driver were injured and admitted to a local hospital.

A case was registered by the driver against local councillor Raju Verma and others. Investigations are on and 12 persons have been arrested till now, police said.

The cyber crime cell is working to ascertain the identity of the person who had uploaded the images and forces have been stationed at sensitive areas of the city to maintain peace, they said.
 

Incidents of using 'Facebook' and creating trouble in the city had happened on July 23 last year as well as in June 2011.
