1200 liquor bottles seized;four held

Four persons were today arrested and 1200 liquor bottles seized from a car and motorcycle near here, police said.

The prohibition wing effected the seizure when the vehicles were proceeding to distribute the bottles to TASMAC shops (state run liquor outlets).

Police said it was not known whether the liquor was brought from other states or made locally.

Prohibition wing police DSP Manikavel said three persons were travelling in the car while two on the motorcycle when the vehicles were stopped.

While four persons were arrested in connection with the seizure, one person travelling on the motorcycle managed to escape, police added.
