Two persons were today arrested in connection with desecration of an idol in Katuri Kala village under Baddupur police station in the district, police said.
Om Prakash Bhurji had complained somedays ago that some people had installed an idol on his land without his permission and after mediation of police the idol were shifted to a temple outside the village, an official said.
"Last night some unidentified people desecrated the same idol and on the allegation of villagers that Bhurji and his brother Dilip were behind it, police arrested the duo," he said.
Police personnel in large numbers have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure, he said.
