2 held at IGIA for smuggling gold, saffron worth Rs 1.38cr

Two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle gold and saffron worth about Rs 1.38 crore at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.

The accused were intercepted by customs officials after their arrival from Dubai yesterday. A thorough search resulted in the recovery of gold bars cumulatively weighing 4kg and 17.25kg of saffron, a customs release said today.

The gold bars were valued at Rs 1.07 crore while the saffron was estimated to be worth Rs 31 lakh. The gold and saffron was seized and duo put under arrest, it added.
