2 teenage girl students drown in Kendrapara in Odisha

Two teenage girl students both aged about 12, drowned in Kalishipada village in Odisha's Kendrapara district today.

The mishap took place when both the girls reading in 7th standard in a local government-run upper-primary school were plucking flowers from a tree near the village community pond, police said.

While plucking flowers, the girls accidentally slipped into pond and drowned, they said.

The victims, according to police, have been identified as Sahmita Pati (12) and Laxmipriya Rout (12)

The girls raised an alarm. Though local villagers rushed to save the duo, it was too late, said police.
