Two suspended Armed Forces Battalion constables here were today relieved from duty for allegedly blackmailing a private college professor after recording his "compromising pose" with a girl student.
District Superintendent of Police N M Mayilvahanan said constables R Prasad and J Reymond Kulandaivel were suspended on May 5 based on initial inquiry into a oral complaint from the professor.
They were relieved from duty today based on the report of a departmental inquiry, he said.
The constables had videographed the Professor in a "compromising position" with the girl student of his college, using a mobile phone when they were staying in the college as part of election duty, the SP said, adding they later blackmailed the professor and demanded money from him.
