A total of 26 dogs have been given training at the state-run dog training school, attached to Kerala Police Academy in Thrissur district, in the last two years.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, also holding the home portfolio, told the state Assembly today that as many as 19 dogs were given training during 2015-16 and nine in 2016-17.
In a written reply, he said the school has the facility to train 50 canines at a time.
The service of veterinary doctors were made available at the dog training school whenever necessary, he said adding there was no provision to appoint veterinarians on deputation basis there.
