3 women arrested with heroin

Three women were arrested and

17.5 gm of heroin was seized from them during a raid in Aizawl by the officials of Excise and Narcotics department, sources said.

An official statement today said that the contraband was reportedly smuggled from Myanmar for selling to the drug addicts in the state.

V L Kapi (53) of Aizawl, Lalunghnemi (29) of Aizawl and Nitiali (45) of Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar in Champhai district were arrested for carrying the banned drugs on Wednesday.

The accused were charged under section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and remanded to judicial custody at the Central Jail in Tanhril near Aizawl, the statement said.
