5 all-women PCR vans inducted by Delhi Police on Women's Day

On the International Womens Day, the Police today inducted five all-women PCR vans to its existing fleet to enable women in distress to approach them easily.

The vans will be deployed at the (North Campus), (University), Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, and Sri Venkateswara College, South Campus, which witness high footfall of women and tourists, said Sanjay Baniwal, of Police (Women Safety and Operations).

Twenty seven women police personnel, including three sub-inspectors and 21 constables, were imparted special training in firing skills and unarmed combat, he said.

They have also undergone a special refresher course on communication skills and law, the added.

Five all-women PCR vans, staffed and operated by women police personnel, were also inducted in September, 2016. They are at present stationed at the C-Hexagon-Rajpath, and Maitreyi College, Vijay Chowk-South Fountain, and Khan Market, the Police said in a statement.
