5 killed in lightning strikes

In separate incidents, five persons, including four women, died after they were struck by lightning in the district, police said today.

Three women, who were working on the fields at Dimili village in Rambilli mandal of the district, died due to lightning strikes, police said adding the deceased have been identified as S Ammaji (40), S Kalavati (34) and N Devullamma (55).

In similar incidents in S Rayavaram mandal in the district, K Mallayya (60) and and D Satyavati (42) were stuck down by lightning when they were working on the fields, police said.
