5 of a family die in truck-car collision in Punjab

Five members, including two women and a toddler, of a family were today killed in a collision of a SUV and a truck in Lehra Sodha village on Bathinda-Chandigarh highway, police said.

The SUV coming from Bathinda and a truck coming from Barnala had a head on collision in which the five members of the family plying in the SUV were killed, they said.

The incident occurred when the victims, belonging to a business family of Rampura Phul, were returning from Bathinda after attending a marriage ceremony, they said.

The victims identified as Amit Kumar, a commission agent, his wife Chandni, his nine-month-old daughter Tayar, mother Reshma and nephew Jimmy from Kalianwali, they added.
