A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man at Nandur Naka locality in the city, police said today.
The accused, identified as Sachin Hiraman Patil (34), a resident of Nandur Naka on Nashik-Aurangabad road, has been arrested for the crime that took place last night, police said.
According to police, the accused took the girl to a washing room near his house and sexually assaulted her. The girl's mother later approached Adgaon police station and lodged a complaint against him, on the basis of which he was held.
"We have registered an offence against Patil under IPC sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) as well as under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," inspector S D Sanap, in-charge of Adgaon police station, said.
