Press Trust of India New Delhi
As many as 65 per cent of beneficiaries across the three union territories like Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Puducherry now prefer direct benefit transfer (DBT) over public distribution system (PDS), according to a new report.

According to a report titled 'Process Monitoring of Direct Benefit Transfer in the PDS Findings from Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Puducherry' which was submitted to the department of food and Niti Aayog, more educated beneficiaries prefer DBT more than ones with no schooling or low levels of schooling.

It further said that beneficiaries rated the quality of rice and wheat that they purchase in the market higher than that available at the PDS.

DBT aims to replace all forms of welfare schemes with cash transferred directly into the bank accounts.
