7 die of carbon monoxide poisoning in China

Seven persons died and four others fell ill due to carbon monoxide poisoning in a coal mine in north China, officials said today.

The incident took place yesterday in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, state-run Xinhua reported.

A power failure occurred late yesterday evening which caused a fan to stop working in the mine in Erdos City, said the regional work safety department.

The incident is being probed.
