The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Monday slammed the Delhi Police and the NDA-ruled Centre alleging a "sudden spurt" in crime cases in the national capital.
Citing recent incidents of crime, including killing of two men since Sunday, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj
assailed the Delhi Police, saying it "does not even reply" to the questions asked in the Assembly.
"@LtGovDelhi is patronising DelhiPolice & its corruption. Police was at least answerable to Delhi people till 2015, but LG made it un-accountable to people. Delhi Police does NOT even reply to the crime questions asked by MLAs in Delhi Vidhansabha (sic)" he tweeted.
Earlier in the day, police said a 31-year-old man, identified as Ankit, was shot dead around 8.30 am Monday by two assailants in northwest Delhi's Mahendra Park area.
"The motive behind the killing is not clear yet. Ankit's family has claimed that this might have happened over his relationship with a woman," said a senior police official.

Another man, who ran a stationary shop in south east Delhi's Taimur Nagar village, was shot dead by two unidentified persons Sunday, with his family claiming he had lodged complaint against drug addicts in the area and that was the reason behind his killing.
Bhardwaj claimed that drugs are "easily available" in residential colonies, night clubs and school neighbourhoods in Delhi. "It cannot happen without the patronage of local police," he said.
The Aam Aadmi Party condemns the BJP-led Central government for "increasing crime rate" in Delhi, Bhardwaj said.
"Why is the Modi government silent now?"
He also questioned Lt Governor Anil Baijal asking if he has sought any report or directed the Delhi Police to ensure law and order is maintained in the national capital.
