Accident toll rises to eight

The toll in yesterday's bus accident rose to eight as a seriously injured persons died at Balsrigitim village in South Garo Hills of Meghalaya.

The injured man died while he was taken to hospital last night, South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner C P Gotmare said.

The incident occurred when an overcrowded bus veered off a mountain road and fell into a 35 feet-deep gorge killing four persons on the spot. Three of the 52 injured died in hospital.
