Rising for the second straight day, aluminium prices advanced by 0.45 per cent to Rs 123.25 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in February edged up by 55 paise, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 123.25 per kg in business turnover of 122 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in March contracts traded higher by 45 paise, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 123.50 per kg in 3 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by participants on the back of strong demand from consuming industries in the physical market, mainly kept aluminium prices higher at futures trade.
