Press Trust of India Aligarh
Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA) is upset over this year's sharp decline in the admission given to children of the university teaching and administrative staff.

The body passed a resolution yesterday which stated that in the current year nominations under the category of children of employees are not been given their due share as in the past.

All organisations give special preference to the children of employees and in AMU also there was a provision empowering the Vice-Chancellor to nominate students under this category, Secretary of AMUTA Aftab Alam said.

He said that teachers were seriously concerned about a steep fall in the percentage of admission of students this year who were children of the university employees.

The AMUTA has urged the Vice-Chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Zameer Uddin Shah to maintain the earlier percentage of nominations under this category.

The Vice-Chancellor can admit a certain per cent of students under different quotas, including that of staff.
