Andhra Pradesh forms State Security Commission

The Andhra Pradesh government today set up State Security Commission to "promote efficient, transparent and accountable performance of police in the state".

The six-member Commission to be headed by the state Home Minister will advise the government on broad policy guidelines to ensure effective policing in the state, an order issued by Principal Secretary (Home) T P Das said.

The commission will assist in identifying organisational goals and recommend inputs for preparation of strategic plans for the police, it said.

State Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home), Secretary (Law) and a retired High Court judge (nominated by the government) will be members of the Commission while, Director General of Police will be its convenor and secretary.
 

The Commission would also look into any other matter entrusted by the state government.
