"CID has taken over the cases of leakages of CDRs (call data record) of the phones of CBI Joint Director and Vasireddy Chandrabala from City Police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad with immediate effect for further investigation," a media release from the Office of Director General of Police said.
Based on a complaint by Chandrabala, a social activist, that her phone call details were leaked, the Cyberabad Police registered a case against a reporter of a Telugu newspaper and also a police inspector here.
In her complaint, she said that a news channel had telecast a programme on June 21 with a view to cause damage to her dignity and reputation by making public her mobile phone call details.
Meanwhile, CBI Joint Director V V Lakshminarayana had also lodged a complaint with the city police stating that his cell phone call details were made public without his knowledge.
The YSR Congress Party had recently released the call details of the CBI official and also Chandrabala and alleged that he was giving sensitive information pertaining to the ongoing probe into the cases involving party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to a section of media. The allegations of YSRCP were also shown on the news channel.
