Press Trust of India Hyderabad
Andhra Pradesh DGP Jasti Venkata Ramudu today directed the senior police officers posted in the Maoist-affected districts to intensify combing operations against the ultras.

The DGP held a review meeting here with senior police officers of all the 13 districts of the state on the law and order situation, an official statement said.

The districts of East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam are affected by Maoist violence.

The top police officer also sought stringent action against the red-sander smugglers under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act.

Ramudu also directed the officials to clear up the pending elections-related cases at the earliest.

On the measures to prevent road-accidents, the DGP asked the officials to set up check-posts every 50 km, to crack down on drunken driving, and ensure extra vigil on the national highways during 12 am to 5 am.
