As part of Andhra Pradesh government's plan to shift the capital base from Hyderabad to Vijayawada region, it has started taking on lease plush villas and other properties there, which will be allotted to its ministers and officials.

The state government has taken 22 villas on lease in the Rain Tree Park residential community here, in which Andhra Pradesh ministers are set to move in.

The villas are located in the area, which is 15 kms from the Chief Minister's new office.

The government had recently initiated the process of shifting the common capital of Hyderabad to Vijayawada, where its permanent capital will be set up.

Of late, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has started functioning from Vijayawada and important events like cabinet meetings are also being held in the city.

The government has begun the process of identifying properties, which will serve as its offices as well as provide accommodation to ministers, senior government officials and others.

Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu today moved into his newly-alloted villa in the Rain Tree Park.

"Total 22 villas have been leased by the AP government in this gated community and within a span of next two months all the ministers will have their camp offices here," the minister said.
