AP: Panchayat Secretary held for accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh

A Panchayat Secretary was arrested today by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 1 lakh for returning official favour.

The Panchayat Secretary of KCN Gunta village in Sullurupeta mandal of Nellore district was caught red-handed by officials at his residence when he demanded and accepted the amount from a complainant, the ACB said in a release.

It did not specify the identity of the Secretary.

After recovery of the bribe amount, the accused officer was arrested and he will be produced before a court dealing with ACB cases in Nellore tomorrow, it said.
