The symbolic protest made by the scribes was against the "inaction" of the state government and its law enforcing agencies for "their failure to solve all pending cases of repeated attacks on media fraternity of the state".

Media houses in the state had banned publication of government news and advertisements for 15 days immediately after the July 15 assassination bid on Arunachal Times Associate Editor Tongam Rina while she was entering her office.

Though the media fraternity appreciated the police action in arresting 11 persons in connection with the case and identifying the mastermind, but they took serious exception that the gunman who fired at the journalist was still at large, the organizations said in a press relase today.
