Arhar, gram decline on ample stocks

Prices of arhar and gram drifted up to Rs 400 per quintal at the wholesale market today on adequate stocks after government took steps to check rising prices amid sluggish demand.

Traders attributed fall in arhar and gram prices to adequate stocks in the market following further improvement in supplies after the government announced measures to check rising prices.

Meanwhile, the government decided to import 10,000 tonnes of pulses for buffer stock and extend zero import duty on chickpeas and masoor till September 2016 as part of its steps to boost local supply and check prices.

The government will soon float tenders for 5,000 tonnes each of tur and urad dal.
 

In the national capital, arhar eased to Rs 10,100 against last close of Rs 10,500 per quintal. However, its dal dara variety enquired higher at Rs 13,500-15,000 from previous level of Rs 11,500-14,500 per quintal.

Gram slipped to Rs 5,100-5,600 against last close of Rs 5,175-5,625 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,250-5,550 and Rs 5,450-5,750 per quintal respectively.

Urad Rs 9,200-10,200, Urad Chilka (local) Rs 10,300-10,500, Urad best Rs 10,400-11,000, Dhoya Rs 10,800-11,200, Moong Rs 7,050-7,650, Dal Moong Chilka local Rs 7,650-8,050, Moong Dhoya local Rs 8,000-8,500 and best quality Rs 8,500-8,700.

Masoor small Rs 5,600-6,600, bold Rs 5,650-6,650, Dal Masoor local Rs 6,800-7,000, best quality Rs 6,900-7,100, Malka local Rs 6,900-7,300, best Rs 7,000-7,500, Moth Rs 5,800-6,200, Arhar Rs 10,100, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 13,500-15,000.

Gram Rs 5,100-5,600, Gram dal (local) Rs 5,250-5,550, best quality Rs 5,450-5,750, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 2,340, Rajdhani Rs 2,340, Rajma Chitra Rs 4,900-6,300, Kabuli Gram small Rs 5,200-7,600, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,000-5,200, Peas white Rs 2,600-2,625 and green Rs 2,950-3,050.
