Around half a dozen artillery gun shells were found in Gang Nahar canal in Roorkee, police said today.

"We found around half a dozen shells of artillery guns in Gang Nahar in Roorkee yesterday," Haridwar SSP Senthil Abudai Krishnaraj S told PTI.

The shells were sighted in the canal after its water level receded due to heat, he said.

The SSP, however, denied any terror links and said technical experts were examining the shells.

It is being ascertained how they found their way into the canal, which flows about eight km away from Roorkee's cantonment area, the official said.

In January, four persons suspected to have links with Islamic State were arrested in Manglaur near Roorkee.
