A 24-year-old Bangladeshi school teacher was today sentenced to life imprisonment and fined two lakh taka for raping a five-year-old student at a school where he taught.
Md Minhaz Uddin, a teacher of Holy Crescent School in Shewrapara, was convicted of raping the child by judge of the fifth Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal, Tanjina Ismail.
He was sentenced to life in prison and fined 2,00,000 taka (USD 2,570) for the rape which took in March last year. If he cannot pay the fine, Uddin would have to spend another three years in prison, bdnews24.Com reported.

The incident came to light after the child's parents discovered her crying in pain on her way home from school.
When asked, the victim said the teacher lured her with a chocolate to a washroom of the school and raped her.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital and a police complaint was lodged against Uddin.
