Barley prices softened by Rs 11.50 to Rs 1,398 per quintal after participants cut down their bets amid a weak trend at the physical markets cues.
Marketmen said a weak trend at the spot markets following persistent supplies from growing regions, mainly put weight on barley future prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, barley for delivery in April month contracts dropped by Rs 11.50, or 0.82 per cent to Rs 1,398 per quintal, in an open interest of 6,320 lots.
Also, the delivery in far-month May was trading lower by Rs 8.50, or 0.60 per cent to Rs 1,407 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 1,290 lots.
