A college student was allegedly murdered by some labourers with whom he had minor skirmish in Malvia nagar area here, police said today.

BCom second year student Ravi Yadav, who lived in Yadav hostel, had gone to his friend's rented accommodation for a party last night, they said.

Late in the night, Ravi alongwith other boys went for a stroll and had a scuffle with a labourer.

"After the incident, they returned to the friend's room located on the first floor of a building. The labourer along with his men also went to their room and thrashed Ravi and others.

"Some of them then pushed Ravi off the floor leaving him with critical head injuries," DCP East K Rastradeep said.

Some suspects have been detained and are being interrogated, he said.

Meanwhile, students living in Yadav hostel blocked Jhalana road demanding action against the culprits.

"The students alleged that police were not taking action in the matter so they blocked the road for sometime. They have now been removed from the road," SHO Gandhi Nagar Bhanwar Lal said.
