Black pepper, ginger drop on poor demand

Black pepper and ginger prices dropped at the spices market here today following poor demand from stockists amid reduced export offtake.

While, copra rajapur and copra edible ruled stable in absence of any major buying activity.

Meanwhile, copra office alappuzha and copra office kozhikode closed today on account of "Onam".

Black pepper prices slipped by Rs 10/5 per kg to Rs 725/800 from Tuesday's close Rs 735/805.

Ginger bleached and unbleached declined by Rs 10 per kg each to Rs 140 and Rs 160 as against Rs 150 and Rs 170 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:
 

Black pepper (per kg) 725/800 (735/805), ginger bleached (per kg) 140 (150), ginger unbleached (per kg) 160 (170), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) closed (6,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) closed (6,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 10,300 (10,300), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,400 (7,400).
