Borivali railway station escalator to get operational tomorrow

In a New Year gift to the suburban commuters, the Western Railways today said will throw open the newly installed escalator at Borivali station for the public tomorrow.

The new escalator facility on the Borivili station will provide comfort and convenience to the commuters, especially to senior citizens and differently abled, WR said in a release here.

This is the third escalator on suburban section and the third on Western Railway.

Built at a cost of approximately Rs 60 lakh, the escalator has a carrying capacity of 9,000 persons per hour with a speed of 0.5 mtr per second, the release said.
 

It has been installed on platform no 6-A on east side of Borivali station connecting the north end foot over bridge, the release said.
