Businessman robbed of Rs 23.5 lakh outside a bank in Ghaziabad

A middle-aged businessman was today looted of Rs 23.5 lakh at gun point by two bike-borne armed assailants in Sahibabad area here, police said.

The businessman, identified as Rajender Prasad, was going to deposit Rs 23.5 lakh in Oriental Bank of Commerce in Kaherda area when the robbery occurred, they said.

"As Prasad got out of his Swift car and was about to enter the bank, two unidentified armed assailants on a bike put a gun to his head and snatched a bag containing Rs 23.5 lakh. After snatching the bag, miscreants fled from the spot," police said.

The assailants also opened fire in the air when Prasad tried to stop them, they said.
 

A case of robbery has been registered in this regard, police said, adding that investigations are on and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the robbers.
