C'garh: Police suspect gangrape as minor girl dies of injuries

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in Durg district of Chhattisgarh and died today, police said.

The girl, who was dumped in a ground adjacent to her house here with serious injuries this morning, succumbed to her injuries in a government hospital in the evening, they said.

She went missing from her house under Mohan Nagar police station area last night and was found lying injured. The locals took her to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, Durg ASP Rakesh Bhatt told PTI.

Police suspect she was gangraped as her body bore multiple injury marks. They are awaiting her postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause behind her death.
 

A case has been registered under section 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of IPC in this connection and further probe is on, Bhatt said.
