Cabinet apprised of deal to set up Indo-France science panel

The Union Cabinet was today apprised of an agreement between India and France to establish a joint committee on science and technology cooperation.

India and France signed the agreement on January 25 here.

Under the arrangement, the committee would identify, establish synergy and define priorities for Indo-French cooperation in science, technology and innovation aimed at achieving economic and social development, a statement said.

The agreement came in the backdrop of enhanced scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries, and the role played by multiple national science and technology agencies of both countries in promoting this partnership.
