Cardamom prices today rose by Rs 16.40, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 1,155.20 per kg in futures market after speculators widened their positions supported by rising demand in the spot market amid restricted supplies from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September rose Rs 16.40, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 1,155.20 per kg, in a business turnover of 41 lots.

Similarly, spice for delivery in October gained Rs 12.80, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 1,195 per kg in 104 lots.

Market analysts said besides rise in demand in the spot market, tight supplies from producing regions helped cardamom prices to trade higher in futures trade.
