Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices firmed up by Rs 10 per kg in an otherwise steady wholesale kirana market today on increased buying by stockists, driven by a pick up in demand.

However, other spices moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders said increased buying by stockists on the back of a rise in demand against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices.

In the national capital, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali and Kanchicut were up by Rs 10 each at Rs 1,700-1,710 and Rs 1,810-1,910 per kg respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 150-185, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,700-1,710 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,810-1,910.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 780-840, cardamom (colour robin) 780-800, cardamom bold 790-810, cardamom extra (bold) 920-970 and cloves 710-830.
