Centre approves 47 watershed projects for Haryana

An official spokesman said today these projects would be started with the objectives of controlling the severity of drought and desert conditions, integrated development of soil and moisture conservation, water resource development and afforestation and pasture development.

Out of the total of 47, six projects each would be launched in Bhiwani and Mahendergarh and seven each in Hisar, Mahendergarh, Ambala, Panchkula and Yamunanagar.

The National Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), named 'Aajeevika,' would be implemented in 12 blocks of four state districts -- Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Kaithal and Mewat-- during the year 2012-13.

Out of 12 blocks, four blocks namely Siwan in district Kaithal, Bhawani Khera in district Bhiwani, Matanhail in district Jhajjar and Taoru in Mewat have been identified to be developed as resource blocks.

 

Also, the initial annual action plan amounting to Rs 121 crore for 2012-13 has been submitted to the Union Government for approval.

This scheme is mainly centered on enhancing and expanding existing livelihood options of poor, employment building skills and for nurturing self-employed for micro enterprises, he added.
