The Maharashtra government has decided to install iron chain-link fencing along forest borders in the state on an experimental basis, to prevent wild animals from damaging crops or attacking people.
The fencing will be erected in the buffer zones of tiger projects, around wild life sanctuaries and national parks.
Farmers in areas along forests, who want such a fencing, can come together, form groups and get a grant-in-aid from the government for erecting the fencing.
While the government will bear 90 per cent of the expenses, remaining ten percent will have to come from the farmers' group.
