Both MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre and state NCP chief Madhukar Pichad met here this afternoon and decided that Congress will contest the seats from civic bodies of Osmanabad-Beed-Latur, Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli and Amravati, while NCP will field nominees from Raigad-Ratnagiri- Sindhudurg, Nashik, and Parbhani-Hingoli local bodies.

Talking to reporters separately after the meeting, both Thakre and Pichad said the two parties had decided to swap Parbhani-Hingoli and Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli.

Congress has a sitting MLC from Parbhani-Hingoli, however, Pichad said NCP had decided to take Parbhani because the party had the numbers there to get its candidate elected.

Pichad also said NCP's sitting MLCs from Raigad-Ratnagiri- Sindhudurg and Nashik, Anil Tatkare and Jayant Jadhav respectively, would be renominated. The decision on the candidate for the Parbhani-Hingoli seat will be taken in a day or two, he said.

He said NCP had more seats in Latur-Osmanabad-Beed but had decided to leave the seat for the Congress. (More) PTI MR KRK
