A woman from Congo has been apprehended at the Delhi airport for allegedly trying to smuggle narcotics worth about Rs 14 lakh by concealing them in a bed sheet, an official said Monday.

Wadi Tshanda Kapinga, who was supposed to travel to the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, was apprehended by CISF personnel late Sunday night, he said.

As she was about to enter the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here, a CISF staff intercepted her and took her for detailed frisking.

"About 14 kg of pseudoephedrine, a stimulant drug, was recovered from the bag of the woman who hails from the Republic of Congo.

"The drug was neatly wrapped in 14 packets and was hidden in bed sheets in her bag," the official said, adding the seized drug is valued at about Rs 14 lakh in the market.

The woman was handed over to the anti-narcotics sleuths, he said.
