Copper prices rose by 2.32 per cent to Rs 333.15 per kg in futures trade today as traders built up positions on the back of firm overseas trends and pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April month rose by Rs 7.55, or 2.32 per cent, to Rs 333.15 per kg in business turnover of 20,513 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in far-month June contracts moved up by Rs 6.65, or 2.01 per cent, to Rs 337.90 per kg in 14,784 lots.
Market analysts said besides a firm trend in base metals in global markets, increased demand from consuming industries in the spot market mainly led to the rise in copper prices in futures trade.
