Couple booked for duping youth by promising job in police dept

A couple has been booked for allegedly duping a youth of Rs 5 lakh by promising him a job in the police department, police said today.
The accused have been identified as Sukhwant Singh and his wife Harjinder Kaur of Sufi village here, they said.
They have been booked under section 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of IPC on the complaint of Gurinder Singh of Ratainda village.

Gurinder in his complaint has alleged that the duo had promised to get a police job for his relative Hardip Singh, of Hardopharala village, claiming they have "good connections" in the department.
Police said the couple allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh but the "deal" was done at Rs 5 lakh, which the complainant allegedly paid.
While the couple could not get Hardip a job they also did not return the money, they said.
